Trimming goes wrong when nobody writes down which limbs are leaving. Define the target, the reason and the limit before the first cut.
Name the reason before the limbs
Clearance over a roof, light into a garden, deadwood out of a canopy and reducing a heavy side limb are four different jobs. Each takes different cuts and a different amount of time. Tell whoever quotes it what problem you want solved.
Set a limit in plain terms. Say which limbs, over which structure, and how much clearance you want. "Tidy it up" invites a heavy cut you did not want and cannot undo.

Topping a mature tree to reduce height creates weak regrowth and a bigger problem later. If a tree is genuinely too large for its position, that is a removal and replant conversation rather than a trimming one.
Leave the wires alone

Plan for the brush before it is on the ground
Pruning produces volume fast. Huntsville accepts household limbs up to 5 feet and 10 cubic yards free, then $55 per additional 5 cubic yards, but that path is closed for material a paid contractor generated. Confirm who hauls. The city page lists the limits.
In Madison the same work meets a different rule: limbs cut to no more than 8 feet in neat piles, small yard waste bagged for claw trucks, and an explicit statement that waste from professional lawn services cannot be put out for collection. See the city guidelines.
